ASSISTANCE FOR THE INSTITUTION FOR YOUNG PEOPLE EDUCATION

Cooperation of Palilula Municipality with educational institutions of Palilula territory has become good practice and is focused on creating better working conditions and improving quality of youth education. The Institute for Youth Education in Nis, located in the "Božidarčeva bb" for half a century has been helping juveniles who have committed offenses. About 2,000 children have passed through this institution and finish school and learn a decent life and become useful members of the community. In order to support educational activities of this collective, Palilula Municipality provided a desk and chairs in the area of the Institute. On this occasion, the President of Palilula Milan Djurdjevic visited the students of the Institute for Youth Education with Milos Otasevic, director of the Institute to discuss current issues of this particular educational institution.

CLOTHES ANS SHOES COLLECTING FOR VULNEABABLE FELLOW PALILUILA CITIZENS

Palilula Municipality, within support of socially vulnerable persons from Municipal territory, sent an appeal to residents to join the activities of collecting clothes and shoes old but in good shape."Dear fellow citizens, if you have clothes and shoes that you no longer need but still is in good condition, please be humane and join the campaign to help vulnerable people from the territory of Palilula.Clothes and shoes can be sent between March 1 to 7, every day from 16:00 to 19:00 hours in Palilula Municipality, street Branka Radičevića, 1 (next to High School "Svetozar Markovic").In the scope of realization of projects supporting vulnerable population of Palilula and with the cooperation of Center for Social Work "Sveti Sava"

CALL FOR STUDENTS – FUTURE ASSISTENCE PROVIDERS IN TEACHING

Association of Disabled Students (ADS) with the support of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy and the project "Delivery of Improved Local Services" - DILS has announced a competition for providers of assistance in higher education within the project "Assistance Service in Higher Education - Volunteer same age support for students with disabilities" . The project is being implemented in partnership with the National Association of Disabled Students and the Institute for the handicap and social inclusion and aims to provide assistance in the classroom, students and students with disabilities by their peers / colleagues for non-disabled.

REGISTRATION FOR SUMMER SEASON

NEW TECHNOLOGIES AND VOLUNTEERISM

In the framework activities of social support to vulnerable population Palilula, Gymnasium "Svetozar Markovic" in partnership with the Palilula Municipality, is implementing the project "New technologies and volunteerism."On this occasion, during this weekend, started the activities in this high school. According to Boban Mikic, member of Palilula Municipal Council, the aim is to advance knowledge and education of elderly people and people with disabilities in abilities of using computers with a focus on the internet and social networking.It is expected that this educational activity will be attended by 20 participants of both groups.

MRAMOR RESIDENTS ENDANGERED BY NEW LAND SLIDE AT `NEW LOCATION`

Thanks to the crediting of the Developmental Bank of Europe, that the Republic of Serbia got for the construction of the flats for social residence, after seven years finally will be solved the problem of the people living in Mramor village in Palilula. These people have had the landslide problems by local landslide location for years. It is expected that the government of the Republic of Serbia very soon will bring the conclusion that will provide 1700 social flats that will be built in Serbia as a part of the progamme of support to construction industry. According to the words of PhD Igor Novakovic, president of Palilula Municipality and Milos Simonovic, Mayor of Nis, after this conclusion of the Government, the City Council of Nis will according to urgent procedure bring the decision and City Housing Agency that is the carrier of the project construction of flats in our city will start the procedure for tendering and selection of contractors for the construction of 300 social housing in Nis.

In the framework of social support to vulnerable population Palilula, the president, PhD Igor Novakovic, with his associates and donors, visited the family home Sladjana Dimitrijevic, a single mother, with a twelve-year old daughter Miljana who live in Ledena Stena. On this occasion, thanks to the company "Svetlost" and the action of RTV "Zone", Sladjana Dimitrijevic was delivered a solid fuel stove and gifts from Municipality of Nis and the Dairy company Niska Mlekara and company "Jumis".This family we have promised more fuel, said the president Novakovic.

NEW DANGER – LANDSLIDES

Positive temperatures and sunny days melt snow on Palilula streets. So far there is no danger of flooding, but the large amount of water could trigger old and start new landslides. On this occasion and about the problem of population of Mramor village, Palilula, reported national media. With Municipal president Novakovic spoke the media team of PRVA TV and with Assembly president Milan Djurdjevic, RTS media team.
President of Palilula PhD Igor Novakovic told Tanjug that the state authorities were requested that Mramor landslide should be declared natural disaster and that people of that place should be helped.

On the occasion of activities to support social-vulnerable populations of Palilula, PhD Igor Novakovic, Palilula president held a press conference. He stressed that the Contact Centre of Palilula Municipality has a large number of calls, about thirty to forty calls a day, to which corresponds, within 48 hours. Citizens are addressing the Municipality to help without knowing our (Municipal) responsibilities. We decided three years ago that all are our responsibilities and we are responsible for all the problems of our citizens. Therefore we have taken the actions that are intended to provide one normal life for our citizens.

Last weekend in Kovanluk settlement, near Novo Groblje in Palilula Municipality, real drama was happening during the saving of homeless person Milorad Ognjenovic. First in Contact center INFO 48 of Palilula Municipality (phone contacts 0800 234567 SMS 4826 or over the electronic mail to info48@palilula.eu) neighbor Lazar Pevcic called Municipal service and said that in the nearness of his weekend-house, where he keeps bees, was a man without food and in life jeopardized situation. Dragana Ilic and Verica Petkovic, Palilula enployees, alarmed according to the usual protocol, the authorized city services to react in given situation.

In emergency conditions, the consequences of natural disasters caused by snowfall and very cold temperatures, after the practice acquired through a one-year project "Strengthening of municipal capacity to improve the quality of life of socially vulnerable groups," President of Palilula Municipality, PhD Igor Novakovic and member of the Municipal Council Boban Mikic visited the socially vulnerable, old and infirm people, disabled people and the third age, who are not mobile and depend on assistance. The first visit was to a couple Zlatanović in Mramorski Potok, then to eight member family of Snezana Kostic in Trebinjska street.

State secretary in the Ministry for state government and local self government of the Government of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Radosavljevic, gave the Solutions on sharing-donating 1,45 million dinars to Palilula Municipality for the project `Transforming of wild depo locations into park surfaces` and Mediana Municipality 2,0 million dinars for the project `Reconstruction of business object for the forming of business service center`. The donations received in the name of Palilula Municipality PhD Igor Novakovic and in the name of Mediana Municipality head of administration - Novica Simic.

PALILULA IS SOLVING THE PROBLEMS IN TIME OF EMERGENCY

Palilula Municipality has taken and made all appropriate and available activities on its territory to repair the consequences of natural disasters caused by snowfall and very low temperatures. At emergency press conference in Palilula Municipal building, PhD Igor Novakovic and Milan Djurdjevic, Palilula Assembly president spoke about the current state of emergency. The employees in Municipality of Palilula engaged in cleaning and removing heavy snow from pavements and entries to the services of Municipality. Municipal administration of Palilula provided also non stop work - duty of 24 hours in Contact center INFO 48. PEOPLE FROM PALILULA URGENTLY NEED HELP!

Due to the heavy snowfalls that have taken the entire territory of the municipality, the management of Palilula sent a request to the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Serbia-Government - Emergency Niš to help vulnerable people-old people and single households and also large families living in a completely snowed-inaccessible areas Palilula. Much of these rural areas are cut off from Palilula and the City of Nis and in many villages and settlements there has been a power failure, interruption of telephone traffic and many residents were left without basic food items.

TRAVELING EXHIBITION OF ROMA PAINTERS - NOMAD ART

In the area of European corner of Nis, on February 6 will be the exhibition "NOMAD ART"-A traveling exhibition of 10 Roma artists, which is realized within the project of the Association of Artists of Serbian Roma population. The exhibition is organized under the sponsorship of Palilula Municipality of the City of Nis, Nis City-European corner and EKO polis-media environmental network in Serbia. On this occasion, in the Media Center Nis, press conference was held. A setting of 10 Roma artists and the project spoke Radošin Zajic, editor of a PRA, Milos Vasic, president of PRA and prof.Slobodan G.Jovanović from the Faculty of Arts in Nis. The guests from Trstenik and other towns in Serbia were welcomed on the behalf of Municipal Council and the Office for Roma Issues Palilula, Dragan Osmanović and Bojan Zenulovic.

CAKES FOR HUMANITARIAN PURPOSES

Almost all the participants of the First International cake fair "Tortijada", held in new Nis restaurant "Monument" in "Forum" shopping center, received the awards of organizers - trophy, medals or gratitude certification. Visitors to this unique event saw more than 40 cakes with forms of bags, shoes, burgers, dogs, piano. The first competition in Nis the pastry makers from Montenegro, Serbian Republic, Bulgaria, Macedonia and Serbia also took part. All the cakes exposed, after the award, were donated to Nis social welfare institutions and the many associations of disabled people in Nis.

STUDY OF INNOVATIONAL ACTIVITIES PRESENTED

Regional Centre for Small and Medium Enterprises-Nis, under the auspices of Palilula, presented in Nis Cultural Center "Increasing the competitiveness of Nis, Pirot and Toplica region by encouraging innovative activities in the sector of small and medium enterprises", which is realized within Regional socio economic developmental programme 2 in cooperation with Regional Chamber of Commerce and the University of Nis in Nis. The project was funded by the EU Delegation in the Republic of Serbia.
About the importance of this project and the studies discussed: Vladimir Dodić, directors of the Regional Centre for Small and Medium Enterprises-Nis, PhD Ljiljana Stanković, professor of Economic Faculty, University of Nis and PhD Igor Novakovic, president of Palilula Municipality.
